Cars are composed of numerous components, which can produce various abnormal noises, which are a type of difficult to repair fault. Technicians who can solve various abnormal noises in 4S stores or repair shops must be experienced and highly skilled. Some abnormal noises have no impact on driving, they just sound uncomfortable. For example, there is a strange noise inside the carriage, which is usually caused by loose decorative panels and friction. Some abnormal noises not only sound uncomfortable, but also have a certain impact on driving safety, requiring timely inspection and maintenance. Today, let's talk about common situations where the front wheels make abnormal noises while driving. Many people have encountered or heard such noises, and they should stop and check in a timely manner when driving.

1. When driving, there is a clicking sound, and the faster the wheel speed, the higher the frequency. It is particularly noticeable when the window is open. This sound is very common, and one can often hear cars passing by while walking on the road. The vast majority of this sound is caused by large stones stuck in the grooves of the tire. The large stones are stuck on the tire and are higher than the height of the tire. As the wheel rotates, the stones will collide and rub against the ground to make a sound, which is the clattering sound heard. When you hear this sound, first carefully listen to which side it is coming from, then get off the car and look for it, focusing on the deeper grooves in the middle of the tire. It is easy to find this big stone, and you can solve it by removing it. If you can't hear which side it is coming from, it's not troublesome to check each wheel. Sometimes it's not just a big stone that makes this sound, but it could also be a punctured tire, with a large screw inserted. The screw can make a clattering sound when it comes into contact with the ground. So if there is a clicking sound, it's best to check it in a timely manner so that you can troubleshoot it yourself.

2. When driving at low speeds, you can hear a slight friction sound from the front wheels, which is low and sounds like air leakage. It is even more pronounced when turning. The most likely reason is that the brake pads have worn out. When turning, the brake pads will slightly move due to the centrifugal force, coming closer to the brake disc and making a more noticeable friction sound. If the brake pads are worn to the alarm iron plate, they will make a squeaking sound and a sharp sound. This is because the contact area between the iron plate and the brake disc is small, just like how we draw iron wire on the iron plate. If the alarm iron plate is worn off, and the brake pad is also worn out, it means that the iron plate of the brake pad is in contact and friction with the brake disc. The contact area between the iron plate and the brake disc is large, so the sound is not a sharp squeaking sound, but a deeper one. There may be friction sounds even without stepping on the brake, so it is necessary to check in a timely manner.

3. When driving at high speed, the front wheels make a loud buzzing sound. There are two types of this sound: one is that the bearing is broken, and the other is that the tire has abnormal wear and tear. Both of these can produce a buzzing sound, which is also quite common. The tire has been ground into a serrated shape and can produce sound when rotating at high speed, so the cause of the tire should be ruled out first during inspection. Checking the tires is very easy, just touch them with your hand. Do not rotate the wheels, touch the tire and rotate it half a circle to feel if the tread of the tire is in a high and low state. If it is one high and one low, very obvious, it must be caused by the tire, and the repair method is to replace the tire. If the tires are normal and there is no phenomenon of one high and one low, further check if there is a problem with the bearings. Checking the bearings can lift the car up, rotate the wheels and use a stethoscope to listen. If there is any noise, it indicates a problem with the bearings and requires replacement.
