Economic Operation of China's Automotive Industry in April 2023

In April 2023, China's automobile production and sales reached 2.133 million and 2.159 million units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 76.8% and 82.7% (due to the low base affected by the epidemic in the same period last year). Among them, the production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 640，000 and 636，000 units respectively, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times.

1、 China's automobile sales increased by 82.7% year-on-year in April

In April, China's automobile production and sales reached 2.133 million and 2.159 million units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 76.8% and 82.7%.  

From January to April, China's automobile production and sales reached 8.355 million and 8.235 million units respectively, an increase of 8.6% and 7.1% year-on-year.  

（1） China's passenger vehicles sales increased by 87.7% year-on-year in April

In April, China's passenger vehicles production and sales reached 1.778 million and 1.811 million units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 78.5% and 87.7%.  

From January to April, China's passenger vehicles production and sales reached 7.052 million and 6.949 million units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 8.6% and 6.8%.  

（2） Sales of commercial vehicles in China increased by 60.5% year-on-year in April

In April, China's commercial vehicle production and sales reached 355000 and 348000 units, respectively, with year-on-year growth of 68.8% and 60.5%.  

From January to April, China's commercial vehicle production and sales completed 1.303 million and 1.286 million units respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 8.8%.

2、 China’s new energy vehicles sales increased by 1.1 times year-on-year in April

In April, China's production and sales of new energy vehicles completed 640,000 and 636,000 units respectively, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times. The sales of new energy vehicles accounted for 29.5% of the total sales of new vehicles.  

From January to April, China's production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.291 million and 2.222 million, respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 42.8%. The sales of new energy vehicles accounted for 27% of the total sales of new vehicles.

3、 China's automobile exports increased by 1.7 times year-on-year in April

In April, China exported 376,000 complete vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 1.7 times. The export of 100,000 new energy vehicles increased by 8.4 times year-on-year.  

From January to April, China exported 1.37 million complete vehicles, an increase of 89.2% year-on-year. Export of 348,000 new energy vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 1.7 times.
