Leaf thickness from 6 mm to 59 mm, and width from 44.5 mm to 140 mm.

Coventional Multi-leaf Springs

Conventional Multi-leaf Leaf springs are often used in heavy duty vehicles. They are composed of multiple spring leaves with different lengths and the same width. Generally, there are more than 5 springs. The length of the leaf spring becomes shorter from top to bottom, and the spring leaf at the bottom is the shortest. The greater the number and thickness of spring leaves, the higher the rigidity of leaf springs and their loading capacity.

Parabolic Leaf Springs

Parabolic leaf springs: It is composed of spring leaves with thin ends, thick middle, equal width and length. The section thickness of the spring leaf changes greatly, and the section thickness from the middle to both ends changes gradually, so the rolling process is more complex. Compared with conventional multi leaf springs, under the condition of the same stiffness (i.e. the same loading capacity), the weight of parabolic leaf springs is about 50% lighter than that of multi leaf springs, which reduces fuel consumption and increases ride comfort.

Air Linker Springs

The Air Linker is mainly applicable to the automobile air suspension. It is usually composed of one or two spring leaves, which are used symmetrically with left and right. It is installed between the axle and the air suspension bracket. It is formed as a whole, and its structure includes a straight part, a bending part and a eye rolling part. The rolled eye is equipped with a rubber composite bushing. The common material specifications of the guide arm are from 90 to 100 mm in width and from 20 to 50 mm in thickness

One end of it is hinged with the frame, which can transmit various forces and moments and determine the wheel runout trajectory. At the same time, it also has a certain friction damping effect. Kill three birds with one stone, so it is widely used in dependent suspension.

What is the function of leaf spring

The function of the leaf spring is to connect the frame and the axle by mechanical suspension. The leaf spring between the frame and the axle bears the impact of the wheel load on the frame, reduces the violent vibration of the body, and maintains the stability of the vehicle and its adaptability to different road conditions.

Advantages of leaf spring mechanical suspension

It is also called tandem leaf spring balanced suspension, which is a common leaf spring suspension. It is mainly composed of leaf spring, suspension support, connecting rod, U-bolt, etc.

The most advantages of this leaf spring type trailer suspension are low cost, reliable operation and convenient maintenance. Because of this, leaf spring suspension is currently used in the largest proportion of container semi-trailer, about 70-80%.
Two types of leaf springs:

Multi leaf springs

It is composed of several spring leaves with different lengths and the same width. The spring leaves of the multi leaf spring are superposed into an inverted triangle shape. The leaf at the top is the longest and the leaf at the bottom is the shortest. The number of steel plates is related to the weight of the vehicles. The greater the number of leaf springs, the thicker the thickness, and the shorter the length, the greater the rigidity of the spring. However, when the leaf spring is used for a long time, the plates will slide and rub against each other to make noise. The relative friction between spring leaves will also cause spring deformation, resulting in uneven driving.

Parabolic leaf spring

It is composed of spring leaves with thin ends, thick middle and equal width and length. The section of a parabolic leaf springs changes greatly, and the section from the middle to the two ends is gradually different. Therefore, the rolling process is more complex and the price is more expensive than that of a multi leaf spring. Compared with the multi leaf spring, the parabolic leaf spring is about 50% lighter than the multi leaf spring under the same stiffness (i.e., the same load capacity), reducing fuel consumption and increasing ride comfort. Moreover, there is a point contact between the parabolic spring leaves, which reduces the relative friction and vibration and increases the ride comfort.
