In November 2021, affected by adverse factors such as the shortage of automotive chip supply, China's automobile production and sales showed a downward trend year-on-year. From January to November, the annual cumulative output of new energy vehicles exceeded 3 million, and the market penetration reached 12.7%.
1. Auto sales fell 9.1% year-on-year in November
In November, the production and sales of automobiles were 2.585 million and 2.522 million respectively, with a month on month increase of 10.9% and 8.1% respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 9.3% and 9.1% respectively, an increase of 0.5 percentage points and a decrease of 0.3 percentage points respectively compared with October.
From January to November, 23.172 million and 23.489 million vehicles were produced and sold respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 3.5% and 4.5% respectively, down 1.9 percentage points from January to October.
1) Passenger vehicles sales fell 4.7% year-on-year in November
In November, the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 2.231 million and 2.192 million respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 4.3% and 4.7% respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of cars were 1.017million and 1.009 million respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 3.1% and 3.3% respectively; the production and sales of SUVs were 1.07 million and 1.036 million respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 3.2% and 5.0% respectively; the production and sales of MPVs were 105,000 and 108,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 21.0% and 14.7% respectively; the production and sales of crossover passenger vehicles were 40,000 and 39,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 7.8% and 0.8% respectively.
From January to November, the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 18.879 million and 19.06 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 6.9% and 7.1% respectively. In terms of models, the production and sales of cars were 8.727 million and 8.809 million respectively, an increase of 7.1% year-on-year; the production and sales of SUVs were 8.859 million and 8.959 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 7.0% and 7.6% respectively; the production and sales of MPVs were 944,000 and 942,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 6.5% and 3.4% respectively; the production and sales of crossover passenger vehicles were 349,000 and 350,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 0.2% and 2.6% respectively.
2)Commercial vehicles sales fell 30.3% year-on-year in November
In November, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 353,000 and 330,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 31.9% and 30.3% respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of trucks were 309,000 and 290,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 33.8% and 31.9% respectively; the production and sales of buses were 44,000 and 40,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 14.9% and 16.5% respectively.
From January to November, the production and sales of commercial vehicles were 4.293 million and 4.429 million respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 9.1% and 5.3% respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of trucks were 3.834 million and 3.977 million respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 11.5% and 7.3% respectively; the production and sales of buses were 459,000 and 451,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 17.3% and 16.9% respectively.
2. New energy vehicles sales volume increased by 1.2 times year-on-year in November
In November, 457,000 and 450,000 new energy vehicles were produced and sold respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.3 times and 1.2 times, and the market penetration rate was 17.8%. In terms of models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 372,000 and 361,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times and 1.1 times; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 85,000 and 89,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.6 times and 1.7 times respectively; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 212 and 147 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 26.4% and 49.3% respectively.
From January to November, the production and sales of new energy vehicles were 3.023 million and 2.99 million respectively, an increase of 1.7 times year-on-year, and the market penetration rate was 12.7%. In terms of models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 2.504 million and 2.466 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.8 times and 1.7 times; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles were 517,000 and 522,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.3 times and 1.4 times respectively; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 1,150 and 1,100 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 23.0% and 16.0% respectively.
3. Automobile exports increased by 59.1% year-on-year in November
In November, the export of vehicles was 200,000, with a year-on-year increase of 59.1%. In terms of models, 170,000 passenger vehicles were exported, with a year-on-year increase of 71.2%; the export of commercial vehicles was 30,000, a year-on-year increase of 13.0%. The export of new energy vehicles was 37,000, a year-on-year increase of 1.9 times.
From January to November, the export of vehicles was 1.793 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times. In terms of models, the export of passenger vehicles was 1.427 million, a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times; 366,000 commercial vehicles were exported, a year-on-year increase of 77.0%. The export of new energy vehicles was 291,000, a year-on-year increase of 4.4 times.
