In June, 2022, with the effectiveness of epidemic prevention and control and the effect of consumption promotion policies emerging, China's automobile production fully returned to normal level, and the consumer market recovered rapidly. In June, the production and sales of automobiles were 2.499 million and 2.502 million, with a year-on-year increase of 28.2% and 23.8% respectively. New energy vehicles maintained high-speed growth, with production and sales increasing by 1.3 times year-on-year.

1. China's auto sales increased by 23.8% year-on-year in June

In June, China's automobile production and sales reached 2.499 million and 2.502 million respectively, with a month-on-month increase of 29.7% and 34.4% respectively, and a year-on-year increase of 28.2% and 23.8% respectively.

From January to June, China's automobile production and sales reached 12.117 million and 12.057 million respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 3.7% and 6.6% respectively, and the decrease was 5.9 percentage points and 5.6 percentage points narrower than that from January to May.

1) In June, the sales volume of passenger vehicles increased by 41.2% year-on-year

In June, China’s production and sales of passenger vehicles were 2.239 million and 2.222 million, with a year-on-year increase of 43.6% and 41.2% respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of cars were 1,086,000 and 1,083,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 47.7% and 48.7% respectively; the production and sales of SUVs were 1,055,000 and 1,036,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 45.8% and 38.9% respectively; the production and sales of MPVs were 77,000, with a year-on-year increase of 13.3% and 14.1% respectively; the production and sales of cross type passenger vehicles were 21,000 and 25,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 35.5% and 20.5% respectively.

From January to June, China’s production and sales of passenger vehicles reached 10.434 million and 10.355 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 6.0% and 3.4% respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of cars were 4.928 million and 4.929 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 8.2% and 6.1% respectively; SUVs production and sales were 4.968 million and 4.889 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 7.1% and 3.3% respectively; MPVs production and sales completed 382,000 and 385,000 vehicles respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 18.3% and 15.7% respectively; the production and sales of crossover passenger vehicles were 156,000 and 153,000 respectively, decreased 16.5% and 13.7% year-on-year.

2) China's commercial vehicles sales fell 37.4% year-on-year in June

In June, the production and sales of commercial vehicles in China reached 261,000 and 281,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 33.2% and 37.4% respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of trucks were 228,000 and 246,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 32.6% and 37.8% respectively; the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 32,000 and 34,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 36.7% and 34.3% respectively.

From January to June, the production and sales of commercial vehicles in China reached 1.683 million and 1.702 million respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 38.5% and 41.2% respectively. In terms of vehicle types, the production and sales of trucks were 1.507 million and 1.522 million respectively, a year-on-year decrease of 39.3% and 42.2% respectively; the production and sales of passenger vehicles were 176,000 and 180,000 respectively, with a year-on-year decrease of 31.8% and 30.5% respectively.

2. China's new energy vehicles sales volume increased by 1.3 times year-on-year in June

In June, the production and sales of new energy vehicles in China reached 590,000 and 596,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.3 times, and the market penetration rate was 23.8%. In terms of models, 466,000 and 476,000 pure electric vehicles were produced and sold respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 123,000 and 120,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.8 times and 1.7 times respectively; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 527 and 455, with a year-on-year increase of 18.7% and 67.3% respectively.

From January to June, China’s production and sales of new energy vehicles reached 2.661 million and 2.6 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.2 times, and the market penetration rate was 21.6%. In terms of models, the production and sales of pure electric vehicles were 2.108 million and 2.062 million respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.1 times and 1.0 times respectively; the production and sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles were 551,000 and 536,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.9 times and 1.7 times respectively; the production and sales of fuel cell vehicles were 2,000 and 1,000 respectively, with a year-on-year increase of 1.9 times.

3. China's automobile exports increased by 57.4% year-on-year in June

In June, China exported 249,000 complete vehicles, with a year-on-year increase of 57.4%. In terms of vehicle types, the export of passenger vehicles was 198,000, with a year-on-year increase of 65.6%; the export of commercial vehicles was 51,000, with a year-on-year increase of 32.4%. The export of new energy vehicles was 28,000, with a year-on-year increase of 87.2%.

From January to June, China exported 1.218 million finished vehicles, with an increase of 47.1% year-on-year. In terms of vehicle types, the export of passenger vehicles was 945,000, with a year-on-year increase of 49.7%; the export of commercial vehicles was 274,000, with a year-on-year increase of 38.8%. The export of new energy vehicles was 202,000, with a year-on-year increase of 1.3 times.
