China's automobile industry production and sales in September 2021

According to the statistical analysis of the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, in September 2021, while the China energy consumption was dually controlled, due to the shortage of coal supply and the inversion of coal and electricity prices, the large-scale implementation of orderly electricity use across the country has affected the production of enterprises and superimposed on factors such as overall high commodity prices and high international logistics costs, both ends of the manufacturing industry's supply and demand have slowed down. In particular, the automotive industry continues to be affected by the shortage of chip supply, so the operating pressure is still very high. Looking forward to the fourth quarter, with the steady and positive development of the macro economy, the demand for automobile consumption remains stable.

In September 2021, China’s automobile production and sales were 2.077 million and 2.067 million, respectively, up 20.4% and 14.9% month-on-month, and down 17.9% and 19.6% year-on-year. From January to September 2021, China’s automobile production and sales were 18.243 million and 18.623 million respectively, up 7.5% and 8.7% year-on-year, and the growth rate continued to fall from January to August.

In September 2021, China’s passenger vehicle production and sales were 1.767 million and 1.751 million, a month-on-month increase of 18.1% and 12.8%, and a year-on-year decrease of 13.9% and 16.5%. From January to September 2021, passenger vehicle production and sales were 14.658 million and 14.862 million, an increase of 10.7% and 11.0% year-on-year.

In September 2021, China’s commercial vehicle production and sales were 310,000 and 317,000, up 35.6% and 28.3% month-on-month, and down 35.2% and 33.6% year-on-year. From January to September of 2021, commercial vehicle production and sales were 3.585 million and 3.761 million, with output falling 4.0% year-on-year and sales increasing 0.5%.

In September 2021, the new energy vehicle market performed well, with both production and sales increasing month-on-month and year-on-year, and both production and sales exceeded the previous month, reaching 353,000 and 357,000 respectively, representing a month-on-month increase of 14.5% and 11.4%, and both increased by 1.5 times year-on-year. From January to September of 2021, the production and sales of China’s new energy vehicles reached 2.166 million and 2.157 million, an increase of 1.8 times and 1.9 times year-on-year.
