For gasoline grades, many people don't quite understand what grade is best for their cars. Some say that high grades are clean and burn resistant, while others only add low grades to save money. So what is the difference between them? Today we will talk about several issues related to labeling.

Gasoline grade (1)

A high gasoline grade does not necessarily mean that gasoline is pure, nor does it mean that gasoline is durable. The difference in gasoline grades is just the difference in octane number, the higher the grade, the higher the octane number. What is the use of octane number? It represents the anti knock ability of gasoline, the higher the octane number, the stronger the anti knock ability, and the less likely it is to produce detonation. Anti riot ability can be simply understood as whether it is easy to burn. Good anti riot ability indicates that gasoline is not easy to burn, while poor anti riot ability indicates that gasoline is easy to burn. Shouldn't that mean the easier it is to burn, the better? No, if gasoline is too easy to burn and produces high temperature and pressure during the piston compression process, the spark plug will not ignite the gasoline before it burns. At this time, the combustion timing must be incorrect, and even multiple combustion points may occur, leading to detonation and detonation phenomena, which not only affect the engine's power but also have a negative impact on the engine's lifespan. The correct combustion method is to ignite the spark plug before it starts to burn, and there is only one combustion point that starts to spread around in order to do more useful work.

Gasoline grade (2)

Therefore, cars with high compression ratios generally need to use high-grade gasoline, because a high compression ratio compresses the mixture more severely, resulting in higher pressure and temperature during the compression process. Low grade gasoline is more prone to detonation and detonation, and must use high-grade gasoline that is not easy to burn. It cannot be compressed and ignited until the spark plug ignites before combustion begins. However, when it comes to the issue of vehicle costs, manufacturers will incorporate some technologies. Even with high compression ratios, low-grade gasoline can be used, and tuned engines will not produce detonation. Therefore, many high compression ratio cars can now use 92 grade gasoline. How should we choose? It depends on the manufacturer's recommended refueling standards, which are usually indicated inside the fuel tank cap. Please use gasoline of the appropriate grade or higher. If it says "add a certain amount of gasoline", then add it. For example, if it says "add 92 or more gasoline", then add 92.

Gasoline grade (3)

Some people say that 95 octane gasoline is more burn resistant, but in fact, this is just an example. For the vast majority of cars that can use 92 octane gasoline, adding 92 octane gasoline is more cost-effective than adding 95 octane gasoline. That is to say, if you add 200 yuan of fuel, 92 will have a longer mileage than 95, because the price is different, 92 will add more fuel. Due to the different additives in gasoline, it is possible to have a slight burn resistance of 95 to 92, although it has not been proven in practice. However, due to the price difference, a slight burn resistance does not have a significant effect on the driving range. Some people say that adding 95 can indeed drive longer distances than adding 92, which may be due to the higher compression of the car. Although it has been tuned to use 92 octane fuel, it is still more suitable for 95 octane fuel.

Gasoline grade (4)

Can a car that should add 95 be able to add 92? The answer is no, because the manufacturer recommends adding 95, which must have higher requirements for gasoline. Adding 92 will cause detonation, affect power, and even affect engine life. Can you add 95 to the 92? The vast majority of cars can do it, but in fact, the compression ratio of cars nowadays is relatively high, and even with 95, they can burn normally. The fuel tank cap also says, 92 or above, which means that 95 is acceptable. Can we mix and match? It is best not to mix cars that should add 95, as mixing will lower the gasoline grade. The car that should be added with 92 can be mixed and added without any impact. Originally, the car was 92, and I wanted to add a box of 95 instead of using up all the fuel before adding it.
