The common types of brake lights and low beam light bulbs are halogen lights and LED lights. It is normal for halogen lights to break, and they are often replaced in repair shops, and the price is not high. And LEDs don't often break down, so if they break down frequently, there must be a problem, and of course, I haven't encountered one that breaks down frequently. If the brake light of the LED is broken, the tail light assembly needs to be replaced. It is integrated with the tail light and cannot be replaced separately. If the LED bulb of the front headlight is broken, it can be replaced separately.
Why do halogen light bulbs often break? Because among all light bulbs, halogen lamps have the shortest lifespan and are constructed the same as incandescent lamps. Inside the bulb, there is a curved tungsten wire that is heated by electricity to emit light. If the tungsten wire is broken, the lamp will not light up. All halogen bulbs that do not light up are caused by the broken tungsten wire, and it can also be seen with the naked eye that the inside of the bulb has turned black. The lifespan of halogen bulbs is about five to six hundred hours, so if you walk on the road at night and turn on the light for a long time, the lifespan will appear very short, and it won't be long before it breaks down.
Just a simple calculation, if the light bulb is turned on for an hour every day, it can last for five to six hundred days, and the bulb will break down in about one and a half to two years. Of course, some cars may not take the night road once for several days, and they may also have four to five years without breaking down. How long it will break depends on the frequency and duration of use of the light bulb, and the more it is used, the faster it will break. This also explains why low beam bulbs are prone to damage, while high beam bulbs are also less prone to damage due to halogen lamps. Due to the limited use of high beams, it is not possible to use them for urban driving, and they may not light up several times a year, but of course, they take a long time.
The attenuation of halogen bulbs is also quite obvious. After using them for hundreds of hours, even if the bulbs are not off, their performance has greatly declined and the brightness no longer meets the requirements. If the annual review goes online for testing, the brightness of the light bulb will not pass, and a new light bulb will also need to be replaced. The above calculation is only an ideal situation. Sometimes, a broken light bulb is also closely related to its own quality. Some light bulbs have poor quality and cannot be used for such a long time, or they can be repeatedly switched on and off, and their lifespan will be shortened due to voltage fluctuations.
The brake bulb is slightly different from the headlight bulb. It does not last long, but it lights up many times. As long as the brake is pressed, it will light up. If there are many vehicles on the road, the brake light bulb will frequently turn on and off. In this way, its lifespan will also be greatly shortened, and it cannot be measured by the total duration of brightness. Just like a light bulb at home, if it is repeatedly turned on and off, its lifespan will also be shortened, and it may burn out when turned on and off hundreds of times. Therefore, it is normal for halogen low beam and brake lights to break frequently, and even if they are broken, they cannot be repaired. Simply replace the light bulb. The brake light costs a few yuan, and the low beam light costs several tens of yuan, both of which are not expensive. But if it is used less and quickly breaks down, or if it always breaks down on one side, there may be a problem. When replacing a light bulb, check the lamp holder. It may be due to a problem with the lamp holder or rusting of the contacts in contact with the bulb. Just polish it.
